Yesterday, I finally cleared out all of the cat toys and put them in their play box, so I could vacuum the floor. Today, I came home from work and found a little fake mouse in the mittle of the room. It must have been under the sofa or something. I just thought it was so amazing that I took them away and they found another one! Isn't that cute?

Re: cats are sooo cool
Thu, February 14, 2008 - 9:09 AMI don't know about my cats. I get them cat toys, but they will not have anything to do with them. When I put any toys in their house, they just throw them out. So much for my cats. I do not get them toys anymore. They are still cool. -

Thu, February 14, 2008 - 9:13 AMMine prefer the home made types. The medicine cups off of cold medicine, zip ties, balled up aluminum foil. I am very fortunate that I don't have to spend money on fake rats they won't play with. -

Re: cats are sooo cool
Thu, February 14, 2008 - 10:10 AMJust like kids, eh? My sister used to buy her kids all the expensive toys and they were just as happy banging on the pots and pans.
My boys love the cellophane wrapper from cigarettes. It's krinkly and unfolds and looks like it's moving. One day, I dropped a little peppermint patty on the floor and Casey chased it around the kitchen for days. He likes it when I drop macaroni or pasta shells, too.
They say that cats get bored with the familiar, so I try to move the toys around fairly often. I keep them all in a toy box, but I shuffle them around. When I bring one out that they haven't seen in a few weeks, they are more interested. Like the stupid blue mouse. I think that was a present from my vet during the last visit.
Then again, I have a real mouse, or maybe it's a mole or vole or whatever. It doesn't quite look like a mouse, more rectangular if that makes sense. But I think my boys have adopted him. He jumps in and steals food from their dish and they don't seem to mind. It drives me up the wall to hear the critter in the stainless steel dish when it gets low. Heehee. But I still find other mice after they've been caught. I don't know what makes this guy so special. And he's getting fat, you'd think he'd be slowing down and easier to catch!

Tue, February 19, 2008 - 11:15 PMMy Ciara is the one that's into toys; she'll play with anything you give her. But when I brought home one of those pink dangly sockies and tied it to the door of the fridge, ..._Bob_, who could care less about cat toys, started chewing on the string and batting at it. I was so glad I had found something _he_ liked!

Sun, March 2, 2008 - 2:41 PMCats are just awsome!! My kitty loves balled up paper to play with. She will play fetch like a puppy with it. We have to do this several times a day. She has all kinds of toys and I find them everywhere. Her favorite is the paper though. -

Re: cats are sooo cool
Sun, March 2, 2008 - 8:13 PMDara my little black half-Siamese is sooo cool! She likes to play with uncooked spaghetti. If I didn't prevent it, she'd have ALL my spaghetti on the floor. I keep it in a big tall glass jar. When she sees that big jar come down out of the cupboard, she sails up onto the kitchen counter and gets right in my face to try and bully her way into the raw pasta. Sometimes she gets a stick of it, sometimes not. I shoo her down off the counter. But she's smart: She's learned whenever I get that pasta jar down, the next step is I go over to the scale, mounted on the wall over the microwave, and weigh the pasta for number of servings. So now when she sees the pasta jar come down, she just cuts to the chase and hops up on top of the microwave to wait for me to come over there and weigh the pasta! She never does this when I'm working with any other food. -

Mon, March 3, 2008 - 9:47 AMGreat big sheets of fresh and crinkly newsprint paper all over the floor! Both cats and kiddies love to play w/that. Hide and seek the diving game, crunchy crinkly fun for all. Balled up aluminum foil can be fun too. -

Mon, March 3, 2008 - 4:59 PMOh, cats are so goofy for sure ;-) Buster Boscoe Cooter Heimer Schmidt plays with anything and everything, nothing is safe from his little toes for sure. Bam Bam digs the little spongy golf ball looking balls. Pretty funny when he is carrying one around in his mouth and is trying to meow. Quite funny indeed ;-)
Oh, how boring would life be without our little furry's? -

Re: cats are sooo cool
Mon, March 3, 2008 - 9:05 PMso...i went to sleep early last night. nicholas the velvet fangboy was, at the time, sitting on his bench in front of the window, surveilling his domain.
i woke up in the wee hours to find him curled up behind my knees, capturing the middle of the mattress. no surprise there.
i went downstairs to pee. i have a night light on. i saw that he had found his blue fuzzy ball and had been playing with it, because it was in the middle of the floor!
and i never heard a body slam ;-). -

Re: cats are sooo cool
Tue, March 4, 2008 - 7:34 AMI love the way my two cats can figure out just where to sit on the blankets to keep me utterly trapped. They are gods of physics to figure out where to apply two twenty-pound felines that I simply cannot get out of bed!
