they really do hate change

I finally got my furniture back where it was and walking almost normal after my broken foot. Guess what! Maybe 10 minutes after the furniture was back where it belongs, my shy guy came seeking affection. I think he's always going to be a bit skittish, but I see major progress. He wasn't even trying to get treats, just some petting. Hoorah, hooray!

Does anyone else have a problem with cats who shy away from contact?

Not really a problem, but a puzzlement. One of my black half-meezers, Lina, has two modes: Extravaganza of Guileless Affection Mode, in which she practically turns herself inside out and arches up onto tiptoe to put herself in contact with the approach of The Petting Hand, and Come Hither Slink Mode, where she walks past and teases and then crouch-walks away from right under the reaching hand to seek the proud solitude of The Caressless Lands. Never know which Lina I'm going to meet at any given moment. She's a Gemini, too, on top of it all.
