i've taken on some additional part time work that takes me away from home, and boy is the velvet fangboy a cuddlemeister when i get home!
then he does his evening rounds of course (reputation to uphold).
and then more biscuitizing to settle down for the night.
anyone else have cats who like to commune after you've been away from home when they aren't used to it?

Re: does your cat miss you when your work schedule changes?
Wed, March 12, 2008 - 9:43 AMOh Yes! If i've been away (and sometimes this can be for just the day!) she'll follow me around the apt while I'm settling in. If I haven't sat down yet, she reminds me with a whiney meow and looks up at me. If I don't stop doing stuff (putting away stuff, doing dishes, etc) she climb her paws up my leg.
It's really cute and annoying, but it's so nice know that they really do miss you. :-)

Re: does your cat miss you when your work schedule changes?
Wed, March 12, 2008 - 5:56 PMAbsolutely, my one boy will come running to the door to greet me and demand petting before I even get my shoes off, and that's only when I'm gone for a few hours. The other boy will join him if I've been away longer. The third boy still doesn't like people much, but he does seem to allow more petting at times.

Sat, March 15, 2008 - 2:50 AMmy boy Colby demands a LOT of tummy rub before I leave- so much I have to wake up extra early or he will make me late.
Kisner will peep out the window with this sad "how can you leave us??" face. And she'll be looking out the window when I come home too.
Magee pretends to be a snob, but cuddles in when she thinks I'm not looking. Hee... -

Sat, March 15, 2008 - 8:12 AMMy girls never come near when I'm leaving, but they're always waiting at the door when I get home. If I take too long unlocking the 2 locks, Franki jumps up onto the front windowsill and meows at me to hurry it up.

Re: does your cat miss you when your work schedule changes?
Sun, March 16, 2008 - 5:31 PMOn a vaguely similar note, my Dito has figured out what the suitcase means. Whenever I pack for a trip, he jumps inside! It was so sad years ago, I lived with my mother and was going to study in Europe for 6 months. The poor little guy. He knew. I swear, he knew. Now, whenever a suitcase or duffle-bag comes out, he gets very agitated.
Once, during a phone call to my mother, she said he was jumping on her lap and trying to get to the phone. I guess he heard me. It was just heartbreaking for me.
