Well, I finally got a kitten last night. It was quite a night. I'd say we're going to be in the adjusting stage for a while to come. Lots of hissing and posturing. Oddly enough, it is the little one who seems to be instigating..... or maybe that's just what I see. But he did hiss and growl first.
Last night was interesting to say the least. I woke up at around 4 am with the kitten on my head, a few little balls of poop and some blood stains. I scrubbed him down and examined him, but only saw one small puncture on the inside of his upper leg. It doesn't look serious, but, of course, we will be visiting the vet as soon as possible.
I also have to be certain that it is a boy. My friend, who is a nurse, and myself, with some experience in nursing and lots of pets over the years, could not be sure. I'm thinking it's a girl. Does anyone know with kittens if the testicles descend like human babies? Either way, I want to have him/her spayed or neutered. Even though I don't let my cats out without supervision, I know there are sadly too many unwanted strays.

Re: introducing the newest member of my feline family
Sat, October 31, 2009 - 2:11 PMI see you have decided. It was just back on October 10th that you posted "should I get another cat".
I think that when you start thinking about it, then it is too late. They are calling out to you.
I wish you well with your new kitten. -

Re: introducing the newest member of my feline family
Wed, November 4, 2009 - 11:56 AMThank you. It wasn't really a decision. I mentioned to a friend that I would like to have another feline in the family, but never really made plans. Then, he showed up with a little, tiny kitten and here we are.
We seem to have had a setback in the adjustment. Pixel has peed and/or pooped on my bed several times. I'm not sure why. I'm thinking about a way to give him a separate litter box, but not sure where to put it or if it would help. Any suggestions? -

Tue, November 17, 2009 - 3:56 AMCongratulations to you and Pixel for finding each other. I hope the peeing and pooping issue is under better control by now. Definitely a good idea for him to have his own litter box.
