Spring Fever!

Oh, my goodness! My boys are driving me batty today. All week, I couldn't go within 20 feet of the door or they would be meowing and pawing at me. Well, today, I finally had some time to let them out to enjoy some fresh air and nibble some fresh shoots of grass. They were in heaven!

My boys are all indoor cats, with the exception of a few precious moments that I can let them out on a harness. Luckily, the previous owner of the house had a dog and I found the screw-down thingy in the yard the first time I mowed. It gave me the idea to try the harness with the cats. I have two harnesses, small dog size, and two nylon leads to attach. It's worked out beautifully. Well, until they get themselves all tangled. I swear, Bandito understands that if he sits down on Casey's lead, then Casey can't move. Meanwhile, poor Casey has no understanding beyond the fact that he can't go any further.

I've tried to consider having two separate tie-down screws for them, but I think they would still get tangled. I haven't yet come up with any other ideas, unless anyone has suggestions.

Of course, I still feel guilty about poor Shadow. He's so skittish that I can barely get near him. He has never even seen a vet, since I've had to cancel countless appointments because I can't even get him into a carrier.

Hopefully soon, I can afford to build a nice enclosure with a cat-door from the house, so they can go in and out as they like... and hopefully not get any other critters sneaking in.

But until then, it's a beautiful day, the sun is shining, the cats are purring. Ahhh, what a marvelous life!

Only one of my cats goes out on the harness, the other is too much of a spaz about it. I hook the lead to our clothesline, so he gets more area to range. But the more I think about that the more I can see how two cats on a clothesline lead would end up getting tangled too. Next thing is to make them take turns, I guess.

The sun went down and it's getting a bit chilly now. I just noticed that all three of my cats have attached themselves to their own heating vent. It's just hysterical to see them squishing against it trying to get every scrap of heat that blows out.

My two cats behave completely differently outside. The calico is very cautious, inspecting every inch of territory she covers, but the ragdoll just runs willy-nilly for the back fence. She was also the first to try tree-climbing. I'm so afraid that they will go over the fence into rotweiller territory that I rarely let them out. They also like to crawl under the garden shed, and once in ther, I can't get them out. I guess that's spider territory, and good hunting.

yes, it's spring, my guy is shedding big time...

and he realized it was time for his rosewater spritzer to accompany his evening brushing (keeps down the static, and soothes the skin!)

but of course he forgot the whole hissy spraying thing...but he's learning fast and liking his evening spa routine.

and his new batch of catnip out on the porch is coming up nicely (he's such a good gardener!)
